My Predictions of the Future of Education

After reading Facer & Sandford (2010)'s article on the future of education, one scenario which I think is most likely to realize is personalized education. As the authors mention in "World 1: trust yourself": "‘Informed Choice’–a highly personalized education system structured around the individual collaborating lifelong with paid mentors and structuring education provision from diverse sources around their needs (p. 83)." The reason why I believe personalized education will become popular in the future is the booming of economy and technology provides the opportunity for caring for the development of each individual. Designing a Personal Learning Environment: A Debating Website for College Students

I want to design a debating website for college students , which can function as a personal learning environment (PLE) . Through this platform, students can join an online debating activity by writing down their thoughts on a popular topic and sharing their answer with other users.  My design is basically a website which can be created by Javascript. It needs a cloud space to store and manage the user information and questions. Here is a brief layout of my design: On this website, students can choose from many popular questions or start a new question according to their course requirement or personal interests. My Identities on the Internet

When thinking of my identities online, the messaging tools on my mobile phone and computer first come to my mind, namely Wechat and Gmail. I view the two applications as the most important online tools since I use them mainly for talking about urgent matters in daily life: sending course files, contact families and friends, receive notifications from the college... I think this kind of tools helps people fulfill the needs of communication which closely link to real-life matters.
